Sometimes it is difficult to discern wireless interference from the rare case of wireless hardware failure. If a consistent trend emerges where wireless range severely limited at all times, regardless of the location, it is good to test the wireless hardware directly. A simple test can be performed to discern if there has been hardware failure.
[$] A dBm reading between -10 and +10 is good.
[!] A dBm reading between -30 and -60 is not good and indicates there is a hardware issue.
If your dBm tests is low, then you should first try replacement antennas.
[i] Bad antennas are the number one cause of wireless hardware failure. We always recommend having spare antennas.
Replace one antenna at a time and repeat the test to isolate the bad antenna.
If replacing antennas does not work, it indicates there may be an internal issue.
The second leading cause of wireless hardware failure is a loose antenna connector. Loose antenna connectors can rotate multiple times and cause internal damage to the cable or other sensitive electronics.
[!] Loose antenna connectors are a major concern and should always be addressed immediately.
For internal issues, you should reach out to support@nodo.film to discuss further diagnosis and service options.
Often it can be a simple fix, such as replacing the internal radio cable. Sometimes it can be more involved though and it always good to speak with NODO Support to ensure that you are taking proper steps to isolate the issue first.
