Color Scheme

The Inertia Wheels use colors to indicate the functionality. Learning these colors can help you quickly asses what you are controlling intuitively.

Getting Started

Connect the Antennae

The two large antennas have specific antenna ports. Look for the label on the antenna near the base. Connect the “2.4” antenna to the RX port. Connect the “868/915” antenna to the TX port.

[!] Failing to properly connect the antenna can lead to reduced wireless range and/or signal interference.

[$] Keep the antenna’s vertical. Unlike some dual antenna designs which are “diversity” antennas, Inertia Wheels’ antennas are each connected to totally separate radios running on different frequencies. Keeping the antennas vertical means they have the largest radius of coverage.

Power the Inertia Wheels

Use the supplied P-Tap Adapter or AC Power Adapter to power your Inertia Wheels.

[$] The Inertia Wheels’ motors can provide more power with higher voltage. This power is handy the more acceleration an operator uses. Check out the TB50 power plate.

Set the Signal Path

In the Inertia Wheels Menu > Output > Signal Path, select the signal path that corresponds to the workflow you want. Generally use Wireless.

[i] For most remote heads, they use the Inertia Wheels Receiver. The wheels can communicate with the Receiver via wireless or via Wired with the included 20ft Hardwire Cable. 100ft Hardwire cables are also available. Some remote heads use the AUX port.

Plug in the Receiver

Connect the receiver to your remote head of choice.

Set the Output

Use Menu > Output > Remote Head to select the output of your choice.

For heads which use the Inertia Wheels API, select IW-API.

Configure the Remote Head

View the instructions for each compatible remote head.

Configure Wireless Settings

After having configured the gimbal and powering the wireless receiver, you should now configure the wireless.

[$] All professionals should understand the advanced features of the wireless system by diving in depth starting with the overview.

Optional Hardwire

You can always bypass the wireless with a hardwire connection. Be sure to change the Signal path in Menu > Output > Signal Path. The receiver will automatically detect the change and switch inputs. Sometimes this auto-detection can take up to 30 seconds.

Happy filming!
