Wireless Overview
Important information about the wireless systems
The Inertia Wheels use a unique dual channel wireless system. We encourage all users to read through everything here in order to ensure that they can achieve optimal performance on set.
- Two completely separate wireless radios
- One radio is an "uplink" that sends control data to the gimbal from the wheels.
- The other radio is a "downlink" that sends management data from the gimbal to the wheels.
- Uplink
- Labelled "TX" on the back of the wheels
- Capable of transmitting on any frequency between 779-1020 MHz and 410-525 MHz
- Local regulations dictate legal wireless frequencies regionally.
- Users should be careful what frequencies they transmit on.
- Sends crucial control data
- Pan, tilt, roll and other crucial data
- Updates either 100 times per second or 50 times per second.
- Expected range is 600ft to 1 mile depending on environmental factors
- Downlink
- Labelled "RX" on the back of the wheels
- Fixed 2.4 GHz signal, similar to Wi-Fi
- Sends management data
- Battery info, uplink wireless channel, api information
- Not necessary at all times
- Expected range is 200 to 600ft
